Our scripture reading is Genesis 1.
Genesis 1:1-31
- In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth
was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said,
Let there be light; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it
was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the
light day, and the darkness He called night. And the evening and the morning
were the first day. And God said, let there be a firmament in the midst
of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made
the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from
the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called
the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto
one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the
dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called He seas:
and God saw that it was good. And God said, let the earth bring forth grass,
the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind:
and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the
third day. And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven
to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons,
and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of
the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two
great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to
rule the night: He made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament
of the heaven to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and
over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw
that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
And God said, let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature
that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament
of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that
moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and
every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God
blessed them, saying be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in
the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning
were the fifth day, and God said, let the earth bring forth the living
creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping ting, and beast of the earth
after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after
his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every ting that creepeth upon
the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God said, let
us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion
over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle,
and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon
the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created
He him; male and female created He them. And God blessed them, and God
said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and
subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl
of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And
God said, behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon
the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of
a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of
the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and every thing that creepeth
upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for
meat: and was so. And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold,
it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
As you know this is the record
of creation - how the creation which we see about us got started.
We have different teachings
of how this creation about us came into existence.
We have the man made theory
of evolution - which tries to tell us that life started somewhere - but
not according to the Bible version. One of these theories I have read about
and I guess taught in school is that a bolt of lightning hit a grain of
sand and put energy into it which somehow changed it to flesh which was
the beginning of life.
And from that one gran of
sand came all life evolving first into a crude form of life which over
a period of millions of years changed and changed again and again each
time a much more higher form of life appeared - until man came on the scene.
But you know - it would take
a lot more faith - much more - for me to believe such foolishness than
it would for me to believe there has got to be a much higher form of life
out there which we can't see but is highly intelligent and with much greater
abilities than we are accustomed to. In other words -- a God.
In the first place - for
there to be a grain of sand there must have been creation already in existent
- even if not life. But when we talk about creation we include the creation
of the globe itself - rock, sand, earth and all else that goes with the
globe.
Another thing - if it was a grain of sand that was energized by a bolt of lightning purely by accident to form life - then why can't man duplicate that under controlled conditions even with all his modern day tools - including plenty of electricity? There is enough electricity at their disposal to turn a grain of sand into powder let alone energize it. But they don't mention this for if they did it would lay bare how foolish their theory is.
Then there is the theory
of animals cross breeding to get the diversity of animals we have today.
Anybody with any knowledge of reproduction knows that does not work. Cross
breeding is impossible except in close family relative forms of life. And
even then the resulting offspring cannot reproduce. A good example is the
union between a horse and a donkey - a mule is the result. Mules do not
reproduce themselves.
Or the theory that animals
or other wild life that are born freaks - or malformed - could go out and
have offsprings malformed the way they are - which would start another
line of life. We know that this is not so. I know a couple - both of them
- were born blind, married and had children - and they were perfectly healthy,
with normal sight. Just because the appearance of a person isn't the best
or even if they lack some part of the body does not mean their genes that
cause growth has been altered.
And yet our renowned scientists
try to tell us it is some or all these quirks of nature that produce the
different sources of life over the millions of years they say our creation
has existed. And of course the vast majority of the world population will
grasp unto these false theories because they don't want to acknowledge
there is a God which would mean they would have to acknowledge there is
a being out there that they will be held accountable to one day for their
actions.
Just think of the planets
being held on an invisible string keeping them all in their orbit - in
their path that keeps it in such order where ever that path directs them.
Man must use a visible, physical string to duplicate that. God uses the
invisible string of gravity to do it. Gravity that exactly balances the
weight and speed of the planet to keep it exactly in it's proper path..
Coincidence or divine order? Let's be fair and honest with your answer.
I don't think it takes any
more faith to believe that there is an all powerful God that did the creating.
It is true we can't see this
God - but we can certainly see the evidence around us that there is some
sort of very intelligent supreme being that created - and is in control
of this creation about us. Its very existence, the order of the planets,
the order that humans want to call coincidence that without that order
creation could not be upheld very long - that without the power of a supreme
being just could not bring that order about just by coincidence.
I have to believe there is
a supreme being. I may not understand Him fully because like everyone else
it is hard to see beyond what I can feel, hear, or see. But I believe there
is a God out there.
I also believe He has a record
of events left for us to read of the history of this creation - touching
even on events that happened while creation itself was only in its planning
stage.
Some in trying to keep science
and the Bible remotely compatible with each other try to claim the days
of creation were not 24 hour days but eras of time - each "day" being an
era - which could have covered many millions of years in some cases. But
If we take a close look at those scriptures I don't think we could agree
with that. Let's read a couple of those verses dealing with days.
Let's look again at
---Genesis 1:3-8-
And God said, let there be light: and there was light, And God saw the
light, that is was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And
God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And THE EVENING
and the MORNING were the FIRST DAY. And God said, Let there be a firmament
in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the
firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the EVENING and the MORNING were
the SECOND DAY.
I think the language here
is very clear - the evening and the mornings were 12 hour days which together
made a 24 hour day.
Another way science (so called)
tries to get around the short history of creation with the millions of
years that science teaches it took the world to evolve the way we know
it today is that science teaches that there is millions or even billions
of years between verse 1 and verse 2 of Genesis one. Let's read that.
Geneses
1:1-2 -
In the beginning God made the heaven and the earth. And the earth was
without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and
the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
At first glance, or just
a casual glance that appears quite feasible - but a closer look at the
overall teachings of the Bible I don't think that would stand up under
Bible teaching.
The Bible makes it clear
- even in the scripture reading we read - that all that we see about us
is for the benefits of us humans. The vegetation in general from flowers
to trees to grass and of course edible vegetation such as vegetables and
fruit, the animals, lakes and oceans which contain the fish are all for
man and his comfort and food. Even the stars, the moon, the sun is for
our benefit.
We don't know how many other
creations God has. We know there is the spirit world in which He Himself
lives along with His serving angels, but that is all we know - and our
own physical world which God created for us human beings - for us physical
beings.
So taking all into consideration
I have to conclude this world was made for man. It was made in six days
- just in the 5, 24 hour days before man himself was put on it. There was
a purpose - God's purpose behind the creation of the world - not the accidental
happenings that the renowned scientists would have us believe.
How do we allow for things
that seems to contradict things we do know. For instance - what about the
light from the stars? It is said that the stars are so far away that it
would take thousands of light years to get here from them. If they were
only created 6000 years ago according to the Bible how come we see them
this soon?
I think the answer to that
is easy. The trouble with man is that he can't seem to think beyond the
fact God would have created this world "young" and had to "grow" to maturity.
In other words in their mind all they can think of was that God created
this world just a barren world of rock which everything we see today had
to evolve from. But we have to look at it in another possible angle. That
is that God created all things at full maturity. In other words - all set
and "ready to run." He did not create it "young" then let it evolve into
maturity by itself.
A good example is Adam and
Eve. They were created at full maturity - humans of full age - child producing
age. They were not created in infancy and had to be nurtured and grow to
maturity like we do. They were created in full maturity and "ready to go!!"
God told them to go out and multiply and start filling the earth with people
immediately on being created. The same is true of all the rest of living
forms.
So why couldn't he do this
with the planet itself? Everything about it as we know it and see it was
created like that by God - including the stars and the light from the stars
reaching us instantly when He created it all? You see there are answers
if you look outside the realm of human thinking - evil minded humans that
want to find proof there is no God - not that there is. You can't expect
an honest evaluation of things from them.
We must always remember -
when there is a conflict with what the Bible teaches and what man teaches
the Bible is always right - even if we can't supply all the answers right
off. Our belief is a belief of faith - a belief without proof. This is
God's creation - He made it so He must know how He made it. He knows all
about what He made, animal or man. He knows our needs, He knows how we
think and He knows our evil nature. So as Christians let us acknowledge
this and if we differ in our beliefs with what the Bible teaches we should
change our belief to what the Bible teaches and not try to change what
the Bible teaches to our way of thinking.
read this declaration of the power of God:
JOB:
26:7-14 - He stretcheth out the north over the empty place
and hangeth the earth upon nothing. He bindeth up the water in his thick
clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them. He holdeth back the face
of His throne, and spreadeth His cloud upon it. He hath compasssed the
waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end. The pillars
of heaven tremble and are astonished at His reproof. He divideth the sea
with his power, and by His understanding he smiteth through the proud.
By His spirit He hath garnished the heavens; His hand hath formed the crooked
serpent. Lo, these are parts of His ways: but how little a portion is heard
of him? But the thunder of His power who can understand?
Romans
3:3-4
- For what if some did not believe? Shall their unbelief make the faith
of God without effect? God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man
a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings,
and mightest overcome when thou are judged.
Let's ever keep that in mind
- we don't have to go around telling people - especially those in authority
over us - that they are liars. But we should know in own mind that they
are and the Bible in the end will prove to be true.
